National Round

  • Title : Biologically Guided Mandibular Reconstruction & Rehabilitation

  • Abstract :

    Patient Information:

A 65-year-old female presented with a 2-month history of occlusal discomfort and thermal sensitivity in her mandibular fixed prosthesis. The patient had undergone a long-span fixed bridge placement 10 years ago following extraction of carious teeth. She requested replacement of the existing prosthesis.

     Restorative Treatment Plan:

A segmented approach was implemented to record occlusion, followed by planned abutment and implant-supported restoration.

    Treatment Process & Outcomes:

Segmented provisional restorations were delivered to stabilize occlusion

Definitive implant-supported and tooth-supported prostheses were completed

Peri-implant soft tissue stability was achieved

    Final outcome demonstrated stable occlusion

     Discussion:

In combined implant-tooth supported restorations, particular attention must be paid to:

     Peri-implant soft tissue stability

Width of keratinized gingiva and gingival thickness

     Maintenance of occlusal stability
